Present: Whitney Reafler/CDMHC, Nadine Miller/DD2, Mitchell Hammonds/MUSC, Jessica Schwartz/CDMHC, Sarah Nesbitt/Summerville HS, Ashley Barnes/GCHS, Julie Bamberg/WAHS, Hanna Beckman/ARHS, Ruth Truluck/Wando HS, William Mansor/FDHS, Brittany Mangum/DCCTC-Trolley Rd./Angela Burnett/Timberland HS Staff:  Suzi Raiford

 Suzi: Fourth Annual All Academy Debrief meeting, May 2, 3:30-5:00 pm, Chamber Boardroom.  There will not be a May advisory board meeting.

Activity reports:

Sarah/WAHS: HOSA competitions March 10.

Hannah/ARHS: HOSA Nationals in June.  Rolling out an online Pharmacy Technician course in 2017-2018.

Angela/Timberland: Excellent student reviews of Discover MUSC.  Travel is a challenge for rural schools.

Ashley/GCHS: Rave review from students on Discover MUSC.  GC offers Firefighters course using state curriculum and 6-9 students qualified to be Volunteer Firefighters.  Early Childhood students care for children during a two-hour regularly scheduled  Mom’s Morning Out.  The Gator Crawl will be April 22.

Julie/WAHS: Participating in the Suicide Prevention program and facility tour hosted by CDMH.  Army Reserve medic presented military combat training.

Whitney: WAHS facility tour 9:00-12:00 4.6.17.  Taylor delivers Suicide prevention interactive session then break into three groups for tour, jail representative, and vocational rehabilitation representative.

Brittany Mangum/DCCTC: 25 DD2 students attend Health Science 1 & 2 at the Trolley Road facility.  Students are currently participating in clinical rotations in veterinarian technicians and CNA’s.  Students grades 11-12 can complete CNA program in 1 year.

Nadine/DD2: DD2 Summer Career Camps, June 5-8, rising ninth graders, include facility tours.  Sponsorships of any amount are welcome.

Mitchell/MUSC: photos and survey results to come. 

Ruth/Wando: Currently offering one CNA course due to teacher shortage.  6th Annual White coat Ceremony for PLTW Bio med completers, job shadow challenge due to 3,000 enrollment, shift from Schools of Study to align with chamber career academies, Chad recommended charter bus to assist with transportation issues, challenges with the new Lucy Beckham HS enrollment, CTE offerings, etc.
