  • Student trip to Roper Saint Francis (4th level students)
    • Emergency Room Visit
    • Groups of 10 (2)
    • Discussion & Tour
    • Design an emergency room assignment
      • Personalized visit to help with assignment
    • Sports Medicine 2 kids to Charleston Southern University
      • Athletic trainer program overview
      • Information provided on application process
        • Touched on the clinical aspect
      • Stratford High School is expanding patient care tech program.
        • In discussion with CSU
      • Certification programs, self-paced
        • Pharm tech program
        • Bio Tech program
        • Suzi has contacts for these
      • Lowcountry Grad. Center Advisory Board
        • Walgreens rep
          • Could help expose to retail pharmacy
          • Possible new advisory board member
        • Wando had their CTE audit
          • Inventory of courses etc.
          • Helped breakthrough to CTE leaders about benefits chamber connection
        • North Charleston HOSA chapter started
          • 12 students.
          • Interest in Scrub U. programs by St. Francis held quarterly
            • Likely last year of program due to funding
          • Summerville High Students
            • may be able to access opportunities at Northwoods hospital branch to help with travel problem.
          • East Cooper Hospital
            • Pleasant struggles with entry level position
            • Can help with HIPPA training
              • Suzi cans send the training via email and post on intranet
            • Full list of partners and teachers is available for all academics on intranet
              • Send changes or updates to Suzi
            • Health and hygiene training available (CAPT Hutchings, USAF)
            • Suzi gave overview of apprentice programs
              • Then update on acceleration Charleston
              • Will send out more information on timeline and process
            • Suzi distributed Q3 Reports and discussed, also available online

New Partner Highlights

  • Water Mission
    • engineering solution to water crisis…boils down to health crisis.
    • Most of the production is ran by volunteers (must be 16+)
    • Offers global/public health exposure
    • Tour of facility featuring the technology
      • Mobile unit also available for school visits.
      • Call man number, volunteer coordinator will send request to volunteers to conduct school visit
    • Air Force
      • Information on process of how to pursue medical field in military
      • Health professions scholarships are available for those interested in serving after medical school
      • Topics can include: Family practice, Flight medicine, Pharmacy and Lab
      • Shadowing is possible in the health education department upon clearance


Curriculum Specific Engagement Needs

  • Amy HOSA Week
    • Health Professionals Day
      • Need guest speakers on November 28th
        • In school fieldtrip experience highlighting different professions
        • 1-2 hours, 10-12pm
      • HOSA is looking for judges for stat leadership conference.
        • March 7-9 at North Charleston High School
        • Go to to look at opportunities.
        • Need materials if anyone can offer them
