Suzi opened the meeting with introductions.

Welcome to new Principal Steve Larson and new partners Morgan Morton and Bob Tremayne!

All are invited to the  Fourth Annual All Academy Debrief

May 2, 3:30 – 5:00 pm, Charleston Metro Chamber.

 

Academy Reports:

Chef Ward:

The Culinary Kitchen is approved.  Chef and students are setting it up and getting it ready for cooking.

Chef Carmel/CIC will be on site to make kitchen set-up recommendations.

Culinary students will take a facility tour at Kiawah Island Club on April 27-28.

Intro to Culinary will be dropped and only Culinary Arts 1 & 2 will be offered in 2017-2018.

Wando’s Chef Twaler has formed a CCSD chef instructor meeting which will meet regularly to exchange best practices, activity ideas, and trouble- shooting issues.

 

Darwin Shorters:

Forming a CCSD Computer Science/IT teachers’ district meeting to meet regularly.

South State Bank IT hosted 24 Computer Science students in March.

Researching a PC computer redistribution program involving business recycling their used PC’s.  Computers would be assigned to students to use.  Comcast has a low income family program for internet service.

CS Intro class is currently working on their applications projects presentations.  The need to interview 6 prospective clients in person or via email/phone for approximately 30 minutes with prepared questions.  They will then go through the full development life cycle of an application.

AP Class is currently preparing for testing and final projects.

There is still time to coordinate job shadow opportunities.

2017-2018: adding Exploring Computer Science for students to be better prepared for PLTW – CS. 

2018-2019:  adding Cyber

 

Erin Franey:

Everyone will receive an invitation to the year-end gala, May 9, 6:00 pm.

St. John’s CTE programs are under redevelopment for 2017-2018 with focus on Business courses, Entrepreneurship, internships, field experience, IBA, web design, desktop publishing, phase in health Science and phase out Horticulture.
